WELTY BASKETBALL ACADEMY

Private and group basketball training in the greater Kansas City area

OUR PROGRAM

Our philosophy leads us to believe that kids don't spend near enough time on developing their basketball skills.

Our vision makes us want to see each academy member reach their highest potential through proper skill development training.

Our mission drives us to use all possible techniques to ensure each academy member is exposed to an excellent level of training.

Welty Basketball Academy, formerly Stutz Basketball Academy, was founded in 2011 by Bill Stutz. Ryan is looking to carry on what Bill has established, helping kids reach their full potential on and off the court.

WHAT OUR CLIENTS SAY

"My son has been going to private lessons with Ryan for the last few months. Not only is Ryan technically sound and a wonderful teacher, he is just a great person. He's very positive and encouraging. Our whole family had been very impressed with his approach to lessons, skill development and the improvements in our son. Even though he'd been playing for quite a while, the improvement was very noticeable. Thank you Ryan for helping to get him ready for high school tryouts!"

"We have been with Stutz Basketball for the last 2 years. My son was originally coached by Bill Stutz. This was crucial for him to be a viable candidate for AAU and school ball. We then transitioned to Ryan Welty, who has carried on the great tradition of fundamentals of his predecessor and the northland's shot doctor. Not only does Coach Welty work on form shooting and ball handling, he takes it to the next level and gets players ready for the rigors of high school basketball. From getting around your defender to finishing at the rim, Ryan has transformed my son into a great player that understands the physicality of the sport and how to read the court. Ryan brings the same passion and patience of Mr. Bill Stutz, as well as the spiritual component so critical to this age group. He, in turn, adds his own collegiate level playing style to push your player to perfection. Coaching from Ryan Welty is part of our regular regimen and will be so for years to come!"

"Ryan is great! My daughter loves going to him for instruction, he has a gift for teaching and getting kids to listen and implement his instructions!"

We started going to the Stutz Basketball Academy, about 18 months prior to his retirement, and we loved the progress our daughter made with him. When Ryan took over, we didn't know anything about him so our expectations were uncertain. But after the first session, we were blown away. His basketball knowledge is top notch and he teaches things I've never seen or heard of and I have been to several basketball trainers over the years. His best attribute is how he communicates and interacts with the kids/players. He can easily explain things to them so they can understand. He is very positive and encouraging to the players, in a calm/relaxing tone. Our daughter always asks when she can go back for more training because she enjoys it that much. She has improved significantly as a player since going to Ryan. I cannot say enough good things about him as a person and as a coach/trainer."

"My son improved more in a single session with Welty than over multiple sessions with other coaches. The only negative for us is the distance from our home or we would go more often. That being said we just signed up for several more sessions despite the drive as we find it's worth it."
